John (Surgeon) & William Lizars (artist). John Lizars was a surgeon while his brother William was Edinburgh’s leading engraver. John Lizars produced “A System of Anatomical Plates of the Human Body” which predated Gray’s anatomy. John Lizars had become famous for introducing the operation for the removal of the upper jaw & his named was commemorated in medical history by the term “Lizars’ Line” |
