MCCOY PRODROMUS ZOOLOGY VICTORIA

Frederick McCoy 1817–1899

McCoy came to Australia after accepting the professorship of natural science in the University of Melbourne in 1854. He also established the National Museum of Natural History and Geology in Melbourne. He is best remebered for publishing the series, "Prodromus of the Zoology of Victoria".

The Prodromus was an enormous endeavour which consisted of many artists, collectors and lithographers from 1878 to 1890.
